About
From classroom beginnings to reforming Maltese education.

I teach Ethics at secondary level in Malta. I also lecture, on a casual basis, at the University of Malta, Knights College, the Malta Leadership Institute, and the Institute for Education.
My formal development as an educator grew through the Master in Teaching and Learning in Ethics Education at the University of Malta. Alongside teaching and tutoring, I became increasingly involved in educational projects, peer-reviewed research and public writing on the relationship between education and sociopolitical life.
My research interests centre on the philosophy of education and the social sciences, particularly education policy, civic education and social justice. I am interested in how institutions define educational purpose, how policy shapes the emotional and professional lives of people, and how schools can form ethical and active citizens.
Educational activism is therefore not separate from my teaching. I have developed policy proposals for a more democratic education system, founded a youth initiative focused on activism and change, and contributed to public discussion through articles, television, radio, podcasts and conferences.
Guiding Values
I view education as a public good that goes beyond employability, measurement, or economic growth. Education ought to pursue spaces of encounter, dialogue, and critique.
Working principle
“Educators should not be tethered to their class or subject.
For the sake of our profession, our responsibility extends beyond the classroom.”
